Custom Gridfinity Baseplate

Size your baseplate to the clear width and depth of your drawer and explore its layout in 3D. Bambu Lab PLA Basic, in white or black, supplied by the set.

Clear drawer dimensions

Measure the usable interior at the bottom, not the drawer exterior.

The default example is 325 × 275 mm. Adjust it to fit your drawer; 84–10000 mm per side.

A consistent storage grid for your drawer

Size the baseplate for the usable interior of your drawer to create a foundation for Gridfinity bins. Arrange bins around the items you store, then change the layout as your needs change.

The drawer, baseplate and bins

The drawer provides the storage space. Measure its usable interior to size the baseplate.

The baseplate sits at the bottom of the drawer and provides a consistent Gridfinity grid.

The bins sit on the baseplate. Arrange them around the items you store and change the layout as needed.

This product includes the custom baseplate only. The drawer, bins and tools are shown for illustration and are not included in the baseplate set.

Sized for the clear width and depth

Measure the clear left-to-right width and front-to-back depth at the bottom of your drawer in millimetres. Generate a layout from the confirmed dimensions to inspect the finished outline and section positions.

Based on the GridFlock design, the baseplate uses the standard 42 mm Gridfinity grid with the remaining space handled at the edges.

Check the drawer measurements, finished baseplate dimensions and installation clearance before ordering.

325 × 275 mm is an example layout. Dimensions are customised to your requirements.

Make use of the space at the edges

Drawer dimensions rarely fall on exact multiples of the 42 mm grid. Around the whole cells that hold standard bins, the remaining space can be filled, used for additional cells, or formed into storage trays.

All illustrations below use actual models with the same 325 × 275 mm input dimensions. Grey shows whole cells; orange highlights edge differences and does not represent product colours.

Solid edge padding around the standard whole-cell area
Solid edge padding · No extra cells or tray walls
Fill the gaps

Solid edge padding

Keep the whole cells in the centre and fill the remaining space with solid, flat edges to reach the target dimensions.

Best for: standard bins, with the gaps around the edge filled.

The solid edges adapt the overall size. They do not provide additional locating cells or storage trays.

21 mm half cells beside standard whole cells, with the smaller remainder filled
Half cells · Additional positions for matching small bins
Additional cells

Half cells

Add 21 mm half cells where the remainder allows. Any space too small for a half cell is filled with solid padding.

Best for: adding bins at the edge when matching smaller bins are available.

21 mm is the space occupied by a cell, not a bin manufacturing dimension. Half cells require matching bins.

Variable-width edge cells occupying 31 mm across the width and 23 mm across the depth
Variable-width cells · Cell width follows the remaining space
Additional cells

Variable-width cells

Form nonstandard cells from the remaining space. In this example, the edge cells occupy 31 mm across the width and 23 mm across the depth.

Best for: making use of irregular remainders with bins sized to match.

A small remainder can enlarge the last cell and reduce the number of whole cells on that axis. Check bin dimensions and locating fit.

Single-side tray · Example: 27.8 mm clear width on the left

Single-side tray

Concentrate the remainder on one selected side in a tray with a floor and walls, ready for pens, tools or small parts.

Best for: one wider tray when a symmetrical layout is less important.

Only the existing remainder is used; whole cells are retained. Choose left, right, front or back, subject to the available clear width.

Two trays dividing the 31 mm width remainder between left and right, each with 12.3 mm clear width
Two-side trays · Example: 12.3 mm clear width on each side
Store items directly

Two-side trays

Split the remainder evenly between two opposite sides. The illustration shows left and right trays; front and back can also be compared.

Best for: a symmetrical layout with enough remaining space for two useful trays.

Each tray is narrower than a single-side tray. Insufficient clear width prevents tray formation. Long trays are divided into closed-end sections with the printed baseplate sections.

Compare all five options at the same dimensions

Five edge layouts compared at 325 by 275 mm: solid padding, half cells, variable-width cells, one tray and two trays

Suitability depends on the input dimensions, matching bins and clear tray width. All five edge options can be generated and priced for your dimensions. After changing the option or tray position, generate and review the 3D layout again. Each tray needs at least 10 mm of clear width.

Larger layouts, assembled from sections

Larger baseplates are made in sections that join through interlocking connectors. Each set includes all the baseplate sections required for the confirmed layout.

The illustrated layout has four sections. The number of sections depends on your confirmed custom layout.

A closer look at the connectors

The connectors are made as part of the baseplate at grid intersections.

How to measure your drawer

  1. Measure the usable interior at the bottom of the drawer.
  2. Looking from the front, record the clear left-to-right width and front-to-back depth in millimetres.
  3. Account for rounded corners, protrusions and obstructions so the baseplate can sit flat. Measure at several points and record the usable area.
Record the actual clear dimensions, then confirm the finished baseplate size and clearance in the layout.
